Giant boring beetles will often be found in dead trees and tunnel complexes—wherever there is sufficient rotting wood and moisture to support the fungal cultures they eat. There are rumours that some have developed a "hive-mind" similar to ants and when threatened they may display surprising group intelligence in the defence of their home.
